I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect kimono’s for summer and while i’ve seen them just about everywhere, they were priced well over $100 and I didn’t fall in love with any of the prints. That is until I found these at wait for it…Target! Yes, Target for the win! How GORGEOUS is the color and the print! It’s seriously dreamy and a fraction of the price at $27.99 that i’ve seen elsewhere for styles I personally think are not nearly as pretty as this one! If you’ve done my Closet Clean Out Challenges, you know that one of my shopping philosophies is borrowed from the great Vivian Westwood and it is: “Shop less. Choose Well.” I truly believe in only buying things that we love, that fit us great, that we’ll actually wear in at least three different ways/occasions, makes us feel amazing and most importantly, makes us feel confident! Confidence is the key to everything whether we’re wearing something for everyday life or for the many thousands of entrepreneurs I have the honor of working with who are daring greatly as Brené Brown would say and throwing themselves out there in the online space! I love these kimonos because they are the perfect solution to help you feel more confident about wearing more of those tanks and fitted sleeveless dresses if you don’t exactly love your arms and a better alternative to a hot cardigan, fitted denim or leather jacket like we would in the fall & winter.
This particular kimono is a duster length meaning it’s supposed to be long but don’t worry my petite beauties! You won’t have to worry about getting this one hemmed even if you’re only barely 5 feet tall. As a reference i’m 5’5″ (thank you pilates for improving my posture & helping me “grow” an extra inch!) and for this particular style I chose the XS/Small size (normally a medium/size 8 or 10 in dresses & jeans). They are cut very generously and I didn’t want too much excess material so I recommend going a size down if you’re between sizes or just want a less billowy fit. But don’t forget this style is supposed to be fluid, airy and flowy! I love this duster length combined with a higher wedge heel and a skinny jeans vs. baggier boyfriend style or a body conscious tank dress to create that long lean line!
Here is another beautiful shorter style also from Target and this one is only $19.99! If you watched my Facebook Live last week immediately after I found the gorgeous kimono and had to share all the details, you know that I was literally 30 seconds to0 slow in grabbing the last black & white one! Luckily, one of my amazing friends saw my video, found one at her local Target and is sending it to me! They are not just for the summer but work nearly year round depending on the climate where you live. The robe wrap dress Sienna Miller is wearing on the left is from Zara under $80 although i’m bummed quickly sold out after the photo was posted but it can help inspire some styles for you try! I love how the kimono is styled on the right (from Ziran and is $1,095!) and the perfect juxtaposition of edgy leather meets feminine watercolor pastels. Don’t forget, you can also wear a kimono as a bathing suit cover up! The possibilities are endless and you’ll easily find at least three ways to style a kimono! I’ll for sure be living in mine!
