Apply mascara to the bottom, yes bottom lashes first and then the top. This is a huge time saver tip if you find you get wet mascara smudgies on your upper eye lid from looking up to apply mascara to the bottom lashes. The super easy fix is to reverse the order of application and no more eye shadow ruining mascara smudgies!
-
If you do get a wet mascara smudge, wait for it to be completely dry & then take a q-tip to gently lift it off.

To reach every single tiny eye lash especially the ones in the inner corner just bend your mascara brush! Did you know you can do that? All you have to do is pull the wand out like normal but right before the brush/spooly part comes out of the tube bend the wand/stick at about a 45-60 degree angle. You’ll discover lashes that you never knew were there. When you’re done or you need to go back in for more all you have to do is stick the brush part in, back back straight and push the rest of the wand into the tube.
-
To prevent premature drying out of your mascara DO NOT pump your mascara wand multiple times. That will cause excess air into the tube and your mascara will get dry and clumpy a lot faster.

Curling your lashes are a must! I have a few brands that I personally love, Kevyn Aucoin, Shu Uemura (makeup artist’s gold standard!) and Shiseido. I think they last a lot longer than some of the manufacturers claim but they certainly don’t last a lifetime so if you don’t remember when you purchased yours or if it was back when neon, bleached denim, leggings and off the shoulder sweatshirts were in fashion the first time around it’s definitely time for a new one!
-
Curl lashes before mascara. Start at the base and hold for a few seconds then move the curler halfway up your lash, curl and hold then repeat one more time at the tips. This will give you extra curl and really open up your eyes which makes them look bigger and younger.

If you have any rogue lashes that are extra tough to curl check out the pic below which is a Precision lash curler by Japonesque that gets just a few lashes at a time. **Note the extra pads that are stored in the handles.
==>Tip! The lash curler above is fantastic to use with false lashes to blend the fakey’s with your real ones.
-
Finally, if you’re like me and you have stick straight lashes that are extremely tough to curl unless you literally spend several minutes which let’s be real, who has that kind of time in the morning, right? Here’s a great stick style heated lash curler from Japonesque that you can actually use “after” you’ve applied mascara. It’s also great with the “tube” style mascaras like Kiss Me’s Blinc and Too Faced’s Lash Injection and if you’re scared of using the traditional style curlers.
