This is the beautiful and talented Brenda Eckhardt and i’m so excited to introduce her to all of you! She is a wife and mom of two awesome kids, ages 12 and 14, and two adorable Teddy Bear dogs. Brenda is a portrait photographer who resides near Madison Wisconsin. She grew up in a small home, near Helenville, Wisconsin, surrounded by only wilderness and her imagination. Inspired by her Grandfather’s artistic talents and work-ethic, her earliest memories include creating handmade jewelry, pottery, and glass pieces, to later sell with him at local flea-markets. This is where her love affair with art, and people, began.
Brenda has been fortunate enough to have her photography recognized nationally, appearing on ABC, ESPN, The Dick Vitale Show, and various print media outlets. She utilizes both natural light and studio light to tailor the look of each and every photo, to her clients’ personal style. Areas of specialty include newborns, maternity, children, high school seniors, commercial, and business portraits.
Her studio is located in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, serving clients by appointment or on-location. For those who live outside of Wisconsin, Brenda will travel to your location. Consultations often take place through Facetime or Skype, to discuss hopes and plan your ideal portrait experience. You can learn more about Brenda on her FaceBook page and her website.
Aside from her talent and successful business as a professional photographer, I was so impressed and touched by her “The Confidence Project” which she started as a result of her daughter and some of her friends who were bullied by an older girl at their dance studio. This hits near and dear to my heart because two of my nieces are amazing competitive dancers and have been dancing since they were three years old and they live to dance. Their dance studio is their sanctuary, haven and where they are free to be 100% who they are and express themselves through dance.
Brenda had to pull her daughter from dance & her confidence was completely shattered. She was not herself for a long time. It took about 6 months for her to come back to her bubbly, confident, outgoing personality again. During that time, Brenda felt helpless as a mom, and thought – how can she use her talents as a photographer to inspire her daughter again? How can she show her daughter that this is NOT how the world has to be? Since Brenda works with high school seniors, she sees a lot of excellent, strong, self-assured teenage girls every day. So, she asked her senior representatives (6 high school Juniors), if they would be willing to have photos taken with no makeup or hair product, with the goal of showing younger girls what self-confidence really means. They were all over it! Brenda had no idea how inspired and empowered the participants would be through having these photos taken! Since then, Brenda had girls participate who have been bullied when younger, one right after her best friend committed suicide, another with Alopecia who had never been seen without her wig. It’s amazing how this touches everyone involved. The girls who participate walk out in tears, yet walking on a cloud.
